CWELCC for Common-Law and Unmarried Parents — Simple Answer

CWELCC has NO family structure eligibility requirement. Whether you are:

• Married
• Common-law (living together without formal marriage)
• Unmarried but co-parenting together
• Single parent
• Same-sex couple (any of the above)

…you pay approximately $10/day at Daisy Days Daycare once your child is enrolled. CWELCC is universal — it applies to all Saskatchewan resident families at CWELCC-enrolled licensed centres. Full stop.

Saskatchewan Childcare Subsidy for Common-Law Families

The Saskatchewan Childcare Subsidy IS income-tested — meaning family structure affects how income is calculated:

Common-Law Couples

Saskatchewan treats common-law couples as family units for subsidy calculations. If you and your partner are living together (even without marriage), BOTH incomes are counted when assessing subsidy eligibility. This is the same treatment as married couples.

Single Parents

If you are a single parent — no partner living with you — only your income counts in the subsidy calculation. Single parents often qualify for higher subsidy amounts because they have one income supporting the household. Many Regina SK single-parent families who access CWELCC plus the Childcare Subsidy pay very little or nothing for licensed daycare.

Separated/Co-Parenting Parents (Not Living Together)

If you and your child’s other parent have separated and are not living together, the subsidy calculation is typically based on the income of the parent who has primary custody and at whose home the child primarily resides. Enrollment at Daisy Days Daycare — Who Signs?

When enrolling your child at Daisy Days Daycare, enrollment forms can be signed by either parent (married, common-law, or co-parenting) or by a legal guardian. If parents have a shared custody arrangement, it’s helpful to let us know who to contact for day-to-day matters vs. emergency contacts and who is authorized to pick up the child.

Authorized Pickup — Important for Separated Co-Parents

If your co-parenting arrangement involves specific pickup authorization (one parent is NOT authorized for pickup during certain periods), please provide us with documentation of any relevant custody agreement that affects pickup authorization. The safety of every child in our care is our priority — we follow parental/guardian guidance on authorized pickups carefully.
