The Basic Rule — When to Keep Your Child Home

If your child has ANY of the following, they must stay home from Daisy Days Daycare:

• Fever: temperature of 38°C (100.4°F) or higher
• Vomiting (1 or more times since last night)
• Diarrhea (2 or more loose stools in the past 24 hours)
• Pink eye / conjunctivitis (until treated for 24 hours)
• Diagnosed strep throat (until treated for 24 hours)
• Head lice (until treated)
• Unexplained rash that hasn’t been assessed by a doctor
• Child is too unwell to participate in normal daycare activities

The 24-Hour Rule After Fever

Your child must be fever-free for 24 hours WITHOUT fever-reducing medication before returning to Daisy Days Daycare. A child who had a 38.5°C fever at 10 PM and is given Tylenol overnight and arrives looking fine at 7 AM is NOT cleared — the 24-hour clock started from the last natural fever resolution, not from the last dose of medication.
